Carramar and Kabara were initially founded through generous donations from the local communities in Noosa and Cooroy.

As a not-for-profit organisation, NoosaCare receives government funding and financial payments from residents. Through strong financial management we are able to use these funds to deliver high quality care and services to our residents. Most of the government funding goes towards the medical and health care of our residents.

NoosaCare provides opportunities for donors to make a difference by supporting projects that go beyond the normal delivery of high-quality care and services to our residents – projects that enable us to do the extraordinary. There are three key areas where donor contributions could have a significant impact on the quality of life of our residents, over and above the normal excellent care and services which they receive every day.

These are:

  • Customised medical equipment
  • Grounds and gardens
  • New technologies

Members of the Board and staff have made cash donations to NoosaCare (over and above their professional and volunteer contributions). We regularly seek grant funding from other organisations, including Noosa Council.

We ask you to please give generously to NoosaCare. All donations are tax deductable.

Customised medical equipment

There are many high quality, but expensive, medical equipment items on the market which are designed to enhance the quality of medical care for residents, including those that help to enhance dignity during manual handling. Many of these items are not affordable within the existing budget but their acquisition could enhance the lifestyle choices of all NoosaCare residents. In the past NoosaCare has received grants which have enabled us to purchase a RotoBed Free – a fully automatic rotation bed to enhance the residents level of mobility and quality of life.

Further donations could help us to install Fitness Stairs and a Ramp to assist residents by increasing their physical mobility and balance.

Grounds & Gardens

NoosaCare’s grounds and gardens are highly appreciated and regarded by residents and families and serve as an important point of differentiation from other aged care providers. Research shows that a garden environment and access to outdoor spaces is particularly important for people living with dementia.  While much of our grounds are well-established, as we further develop our site – including with a new dementia unit – there will be additional opportunities to significantly enhance our outdoor spaces and plantings.

We are already in consultation with other not-for-profit community organisations (such as the Men’s Shed) to provide grounds enhancements (eg bench seating) but with donations we could add some viewing platforms for families and residents to contemplate our forest surroundings.

New Technologies

As in most industries, better use of technology has the potential to save time, reduce risks and enhance experiences. There are opportunities, particularly for people living with dementia, to use technology to provide additional stimulation or promote memory recall. We have previously used donations to purchase an interactive projector for residents living with dementia which has enabled them to relive memories, watch old time movies and see calming scenery.

Further donations would enable us to install Solar Audio Enrichment Boards and solar bench electronic units. These outdoor boards facilitate greater engagement with nature through the sounds of birds and frogs and act as sensory cues and prompts.

Bequests

Many families and friends choose to give a donation to NoosaCare ‘in memory’ as a gift to celebrate the life of a loved one. These donations help towards achieving our goals in our three key priority areas but they are also acknowledged with a plaque in our garden areas.
