NoosaCare is the Sunshine Coast’s leading provider of Boutique Aged Care Accommodation.
With two incredible facilities – Carramar in Tewantin and Kabara in Cooroy – we are a community based, not-for-profit organisation who put our residents and their families at the forefront of all we do. Our state-of the-art facilities are located in stunning, natural surrounds and landscaped gardens, where residents experience the highest level of care and lifestyle choices they deserve.
We’ve set the standard in excellence for services, providing high and low assistance care, respite care, dementia care, extra and additional services packages at both sites. Our Carramar site is home to our nationally recognised dementia specific unit, offering a unique model of care and supported living environment for those living with dementia.
The dream began in 1974, when a group of like minded community members in Noosa agreed that many retirees would be in need of care in future but would not necessarily have family close by to provide them with help.
The idea for an Aged Care Home was met with enormous enthusiasm and a surprising number of locals attended the first official planning committee meeting. Through significant hard work and dedication, within just 12 months the committee was able to secure generous donations from the Noosa Community to go towards initial planning, legal matters and site selection. After ten years of fund-raising from our dedicated community members, Carramar was finally opened on land in Tewantin that was donated to us. The first lodge at Carramar was completed in 1984 and a number of the initial committee members then created the governing Board of Directors. In 2006, Carramar amalgamated with Kabara at Cooroy to create the current NoosaCare organisaton.
A lot has changed over the years and NoosaCare accommodates up to 229 residents across both sites, offering care and comfort reflective of the lifestyle that is chosen by them. Carramar is now home to 143 residents and Kabara 86 residents.
NoosaCare still plays a significant role as a part of the Noosa Community, with two great locations peacefully nestled in the beautiful Noosa hinterland. Both locations are just a short drive to Noosa River, Gympie Terrace and other local popular attractions. Our History is unique and it’s not simply about providing exceptional services to our residents, it’s also going above and beyond to make NoosaCare special and enjoyable for all our residents, their families, our dedicated staff and volunteer members and the community as a whole.
